We thoroughly enjoyed our festival last year and want to continue
with this annual fundraising tradition.
We are very pleased to announce the date and the details for the Carpie Fees 2022. This is our 21st birthday year,
so we look forward to celebrate it with you!
This day is also a big fundraising project for the school.
On Saturday, 17 September the day will comprise of kaskar (boxcart) races, food stalls, a beer-and[1]drinks tent, kids play area, live music, potjiekos competition, a colour fest and foam party. The day will start with a 3km, 5km or 10km fundraising jog, walk or cycle in collaboration with BEARone Run4 organisation (by Mr Willie de Beer, our LO Educator).

The Kaskar is part of the learners’ Life Orientation mark for the year and thus is compulsory. Each class has a theme according to which they must dress and decorate their cart. This year, as part of the race, classes will have to prepare all decorations before the day and on the day have a time limit in which to decorate their cart.
Prizes will be handed out for the following categories:
- Winners of each one of the 6 kaskar categories
- Best dressed according to theme
- Best decorated cart
Kaskar
We ask parents’ involvement and to motivate their children to raise as much funds as possible to make the day a success. There is also a prize up for grabs for the learner who collects the most sponsors. More than one form may also be completed.
FOOD and DRINK STALLS:
The school will be managing the food stalls. Boerewors rolls, hamburgers, pancakes, coffee, snacks and sweet eats as well as cooldrinks will be sold. The beer and drinks tent will have a variety of drinks including beer, gin and tonic, brandy and coke, vodka and energade.
We would like to ask your involvement in the form of volunteering. If you are able to assist at a stall or activity, please click on the Google Sheets link below and type your name in the timeslot you are available. You can also volunteer by donating ingredients, cooldrinks, packaging, food preparation equipment or financial contributions. Colour Fest & Foam Party:
The Colour Fest this year will happen in a fun marked off space. Parents are also welcome to participate. Our 21st birthday celebration for the learners is a Foam Party in the hall. We will have visible teacher chaperones. And a very strict dress code: swimwear and black shirt. (The black shirt underneath your colour powdered white shirt if you participated in the Colour Fest).
Live Sport & Music & Kids Area:
Come watch the Bulls vs. Lions rugby with us, streaming from 16:00. And come support local musicians: our own Carpies Got Talent winners will provide us with live music as well as Onike Janse van Vuuren, a fantastic local singer doing classic and new song covers.
From 10:30 (while you do the fun run), you can leave your kids in the play area, on our sportsfield. Allocated teachers will be babysitters. R20 entrance gives your child access to a jumping castle, soft play and face paint.
Tickets
Tickets for all the stalls will be on sale at the school two weeks prior to the Carpie Fees. This will include sales of the colour fest powder and foam party tickets. Special discounts on tickets will be available if purchase ahead of 17 September. Tickets will also be on sale on the day. Please note, all stalls will be cashless.

The Colour Fest – R10 a sachet of 100g powder paint. Learners can purchase/book their sachets (red, orange, blue, pink, yellow, purple, green) with Ms. Melissa (finance office). We have the special running: Buy 5, get 1 free (R50 for 6 sachets)

The Foam Party – R20 gets you in.

Food, drink, cooldrink and sweets money vouchers: We will be using money vouchers on the day to reduce cash on premises. You can start buying your money vouchers from Ms. Melissa (finance office) in voucher packets of R50. (R50 will include R20, R10, R5 & R5 vouchers to use on the day).

We also want to assure you that we will have safety measures in place on the day including visible security and a medic on site. We are looking forward to having every learner, their friends (out of school and in other schools) and family members here, celebrating and having fun.
